Dispute Resolution Services (DRS) : DRS Processes : Consultations
Chris Leick and other DRS professionals provide hourly consultation services to persons other than DRS clients in order to assist them in solving problems related to a conflict resolution process and/or possible impasse. In this capacity, we serve parties or organizations experiencing conflict, attorneys, other dispute resolution professionals, and experts in other fields.
DRS consulting services can be useful in many situations, including the following:
- A couple needing to separate or divorce, or change a business relationship, might seek information about the various processes available to them and use our assistance to design the right process for them, even if they do not choose to use other DRS services. Typically both people participate in such a consultation.
- Parties facing impasse and an expensive trial, or otherwise frustrated with their situation may want to find out what other options are available to them. They may even be referred to DRS by their own attorneys. Such parties and/or their attorneys may also want help in removing barriers to settlement or creating other settlement options not yet discovered. This type of consultation is also more effective if it includes all involved persons.
- Attorneys who are beginning a case with unusual facts or circumstances might request assistance in designing an effective process for the case, even if the process does not otherwise involve DRS.
- A mediator or other dispute resolution professional may be looking for new ideas about how to handle a certain situation or head off impasse in one of her or his cases.
- A mental health professional might need procedural or legal information in order to more fully support her or his client and facilitate a settlement process.
- Attorneys or other professionals might jointly consult in a situation where the circumstances of a particular case have resulted in conflict between them.
